Family Services of Davidson County provides counseling, crisis intervention and youth development programs to strengthen individuals, families and our community. 

Clinical Counseling

Counseling services assist individuals, youth and families who are having difficulties at home, work, and school. Our licensed clinicians provide quality individual, couple, family, and group counseling services that address issues such as:

  • Parent-child relationship problems

  • Child behavior problems

  • Child abuse and adults with a history of abuse

  • Anxiety, stress, and addiction

  • Depression

  • Grief and loss

  • Relationship issues including couples counseling

  • Post-traumatic stress and trauma

Crisis Intervention

Available 24/7- the crisis line provides immediate confidential crisis response intervention, information, referral, and support services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. Crisis services are provided by a trained Family Services staff member.

Crisis Intervention Advocates are available to support anyone experiencing domestic and/or sexual violence, seeking resources and information, or questioning unhealthy aspects of their relationship.

Hattie Lee Burgess Home provides a safe, temporary residence available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors and their children.

Youth & Community

Youth and Community Services provide comprehensive services to reduce juvenile delinquency. Staff assist young people and families who are faced with difficulties at school, home or in the community to improve their chances for success in life. Priority is placed on reducing the likelihood that at-risk youth will continue down a criminal path







Family Services of Davidson County, Inc.  Receives Donation from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation

Feeding the Hungry grant addresses food insecurity; supports nutrition education.

 

Lexington, NC - [Family Services of Davidson County, Inc.  has received $1,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help nourish neighbors experiencing hunger. The Feeding the Hungry grant supports Family Services of Davidson County’s efforts to provide food for the residents of the Hattie Lee Burgess Safe Home for victims of domestic and sexual violence. In addition, the grants support community feeding partners by helping neighbors increase their access to nutritious food and providing nutrition education to eliminate health risks for those experiencing food insecurity.

 

“Family Services is grateful to the Foundation for their generosity”, said Tim Tilley, Executive Director.  “Our clients come to our agency seeking assistance during periods of significant crisis in their lives.  In addition to the challenges, they are facing due to violence, they often have minimal income and have trouble feeding their families. This gift will take away the stress of putting food on the table so clients can focus on other goals they have for starting violence-free lives”.
